A couple of people have reported errors when trying to submit their Dear Santa letters.

The Dear Santa letter submission page uses javascript to process the form, which means that the NoScript plugin in Firefox will stop the submission form working. Left-click on the NoScript icon in the status bar, and add maketheyuletidegay.org to the trusted sites, and all will be well.

If you use any script-blocking tools other than NoScript, you'll need to configure them to allow scripts from the MtYG site also.

If, after doing that, you're still having problems, please let the Admins know asap.

It's been a crappy couple of days for me, the start of many, so...
I'm asking for schmoopy nonsense that starts with angst and ends in hope.

03. Backstreet Howie/Brian and/or AJ/Nick.
I have seen snippets of their new video for Straight Through My Heart (Solider Down) and was hoping somebody out there in lj land can write me a lovely little vampire story involving all the current Backstreet Boys on a futuristic quest in a post apocolyptic world. The quest is left up to your imagination.

04. Justin/JC/OFC
Let's say that Justin just came out and his now ex-girlfriend teaches JC what Justin likes in bed ... using Justin as a live prop.  Sexiness is mandatory.  Thanks!

05. Justin/Any Nsync
In honor of my birthday yesterday, I'd like something with either CelebrityEra!Justin or early Justified!Justin.  Any *NSYNCer will do.  Smut is a must.

Mentoring is a tradition we carried over from DWNOGA: every year there are new santas, new and newish popslash writers, who might benefit from some assistance in writing their sesa story, whether that's practical advice, or just someone to fan them with a Don't Panic placard when the deadline looms.

Each mentor and mentee will work out what works best for them, but in general we'd anticipate that mentors will be available to do some or all of the following:

♥ Provide feedback on story ideas.
♥ Help with issues of canon and that intangible "feel" that comes with being familiar with the fandom. For example: Would Nick be likely to react like X when faced with situation Y? Or would he do Z instead?
♥ Beta the finished story.
♥ General hand-holding.


Volunteering to be a mentor

To volunteer to be a mentor, please post a comment with your name, a link to your stories, and a brief summary of what you feel you can help with and what you feel you can't. Examples for this might be things like grammar, 'N Sync or Backstreet, canon, angst, smut, etc.

Anyone who feels they could be helpful to a new writer is welcome to volunteer to be a mentor, whether they're participating in MTYG or not.

Please comment a second time if / when you are fully stocked with mentees, so that people can see at a glance who has space on their dance cards. (Most people only have space for one mentee, but if you'd like to nurture more than one, it's your call.)


Acquiring a mentor

We will not be assigning mentors! Anyone who would like a mentor to help them out is responsible for asking one of the volunteers to help them. If you're nervous about asking in the comm, please mail the mentor directly, and, remember, they volunteered!

(Volunteers will be adding themselves to this post as they come across it on their friends page, so if you don't see anybody who's suitable for the kind of help you require, hold tight and refresh the page in a couple of hours.)


Care and Feeding of Mentors

Don't forget, if your mentor is going to be writing their own sesa story, you may have to complete your story well in advance of the deadline so that both stories can be betaed in time. Each couple will work out their own schedule, of course, but it's something to keep in mind if you're looking for a mentor. Please respect that and work with any deadlines that your mentor asks of you so that everybody can have a happy, stress free, sesa.
